City of Columbus’ Fourth CNG Station

City of Columbus

Client: City of Columbus

The City of Columbus, Ohio has just completed a long-term strategy to create a network of City owned, high capacity CNG stations in locations that were convenient for City use and with good highway and street access for public access fueling. Marathon is proud to have worked closely with the City and with a Columbus based prime engineering consultant in the planning and execution of this program. This network of stations is believed to be the largest municipally owned and operated system of CNG stations in North America.

This is the City of Columbus’ fourth CNG station and has the largest footprint which provides excellent maneuverability for large vehicles through the fueling area. The station is sized to serve their fleet of trash collection trucks domiciled nearby but is also designed to serve the City’s mixed fleet of CNG vehicles and to provide high speed public access fueling to outside vehicles ranging from small sedans to Class 8 tractors. This site also includes a secure liquid fueling area for City vehicles only. Marathon’s design philosophy emphasizes user convenience and high speed fueling to ensure a positive customer experience at the dispenser.
